It is bad enough that the meat industry abuses the cattle, pigs and chickens that it slaughters to sell to the public. Now, President Obama has signed a Bill legalizing the slaughter of horses, which in turn will add them to the mix of abuse and cruelty. This Bill has made the job that much more difficult for those of us who oppose meat industry standards. Not to mention the fact that this country has no shortage of meat. So why would this Bill even be considered?  Please sign and support the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (HR 2966/S 1176).

Dear President Barack Obama:

We urge you to make the slaughter of horses illegal in this country.

Support the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (HR 2966/S 1176).

We already have a valid problem here with the meat industry's abuse of cattle, pigs and chickens that is slaughtered to sell to the public. Now, you have signed a Bill legalizing the slaughter of horses, which in turn will add them to the mix of abuse and cruelty. This Bill has made the job that much more difficult for those of us who oppose meat industry standards to begin with. This is not to mention the fact that this country has no shortage of meat. So why would this Bill even be considered?

We are appalled that you would do such a thing, especially since your 2012 campaign is just beginning. Most of your supporters believe in animal rights. We do not want our tax dollars going to the slaughter of 100,000 horses every year. Please earn our 2012 votes, and support the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (HR 2966/S 1176).
