Based on the British comic 2000 AD comic strip Judge Dredd, 2012's Dredd 3D was faced with a horrible marketing campaign that inevitably spelled the movie's disaster in theaters all over the world.

Despite not that many people or hearing about it and a budget of just $35 million, the movie went on to make an estimated $60.2 million worldwide (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1343727/business?ref_=tt_dt_bus) and has reached a viral status on websites such as Reddit and Rotten Tomatoes (78% tomatometer and 74% audience). Upon release to DVD/Blu Ray, the movie, at the time, was the best selling new release title of the year with over 650,000 units sold. It is clear there is a want, if not need, by fans of the character to have another installment created and put out the public with a legitimate marketing campaign to give worldwide movie-goers exactly what they want.

In a recent interview, actor Karl Urban said himself, "The power of fandom can resurrect projects. In fact, that’s what happened with Star Trek.
