I'm starting a petition to raise awareness on the situation of Adam Milligan/Winchester from CW's hit series Supernatural. He's a very interesting character that deserves the opportunity to grow as has every other character before him: Bobby, Ellen, Jo etc. Ever since the moment when creator Kripke announced there would be a third Winchester brother on the show, I was very skeptic about the idea. But when the appropriately named episode "Jump the Shark" first aired I was completely on the edge of my seat with Sam & Dean's characters. Not even 10 minutes into the episode and both brothers are already finding ways to accept and include this new family member into their lives (however misled they were), which I thought was natural on their end. Watching the Winchesters carry the show for five years going on six and every twist that’s come into the story of SUPERNATURAL has been fresh and unique.
I can understand why SPN fans are incredibly territorial over the brotherly dynamic duo but what I can’t understand is why they’re quick to dismiss another character entering the Winchester’s lives as many others, a certain angel Castiel stands out in particular. Brought into the show at the very beginning of season 4 episode “Lazarus Rising” nobody would have thought a character like Cas would have such an impact on the show and its viewers. Misha Collins became a fan favorite and was signed onto season 5 and now 6. I found adding Castiel to the SPN cast created a positive energy and gave the show more layers. For me and many others it is the same for Jake Abel as Adam (Winchester) Milligan. Although he's been in 3 episodes now, played 4 different versions of the character (Wide-eyed Adam, Ghoul Adam, REAL Adam and now Adam/Michael), this guy is just so incredibly talented at what he does. And I have to give Jake credit at his performance as Michael in "Swan Song", he was just awesome.
After “Jump the Shark” I always had this notion in the back of my mind that if Kripke wanted to he could bring Adam back from the dead, after all “he’s cursed as a Winchester” as Sam puts it. Little did I know that the right moment would be when SPN finally crossed the 100th Episode threshold? In “Point of No Return” we got to meet Adam again (this time it was the REAL deal) and was he so far from the guy we pictured back in “Jump the Shark”. This new Adam was cynical, tough and feisty, also a near perfect mixture of Sam and Dean (personality and appearance) but maintained his own person. It didn’t take long for me and many others to jump on the Adam-wagon, glimpsing the potential he sparked in that one episode alone. I knew there was something special about this character and thought of all people (that died because of being close to the Winchesters in some way) this guy was brought back and he made an impact on his television brothers. I figured if Sam and Dean were willing to accept Adam, why shouldn’t the rest of us in the SPN audience? And why not now when we’ve already added Castiel and Bobby to the group and are now into season 6?
I know most SPN fans have never been receptive about the idea of the "third" brother, but watching Sam & Dean go about their day without mentioning their little brother's fate of being trapped & tortured in Hell is unacceptable. Not to mention it completely obliterates their code of "family first". Yes he wasn't an important character to begin with having only appeared 3 times in 2 seasons but after the events of his final appearance on the show I wasn't convinced his character's story had any closure. I'm asking for the support of Jake Abel fans as well as SPN fans to please help me raise awareness to this situation. I don't think its right for new show runner Sera Gamble and the writers to ignore Adam's fate anymore. I believe this is a character we can all grow to accept with time as we had with characters like Castiel, Bobby, Ellen and Jo. So please, if you believe Adam deserves to thrive longer in the show or at least needs closure, help me and other fan girls speak out.
Please Bring Adam Back to "Supernatural"
Greetings,
I ask the fans. Do you really think that Sam (now 28, story wise) is the same Sam of 2005 and will move our hearts with puppy eyes and “You are my big brother... I will do anything for you... etc etc.” and Dean’s(32) same concern for Sam (even though he technically can be a Dad?).
I mean come on, introducing a younger brother (who luckily exists in canon) who is cared by both the brothers won’t open up new facets of relationship to be explored in the show.
Sam will really be able to feel what’s it’s like to be a big brother. He will learn how Dean must cope with Sam’s rash and stubborn actions at time! I know the exclusive fan-girl trend won’t go away and many won’t accept a third member. But don’t they think even for a millisecond that Adam is really a younger brother of Winchesters...and he doesn’t deserve that fate in the pit. I don’t expect that Dean would immediately invite him to hop in the car and burn and salt some ass. But at least the room for various dramas that we all enjoy would be plausible and ethical.
