Fort Lee does not need more debt. If a private venture is interested in a property it should be purchased entirely by this entity. The municipality does not need to be in the speculative business of real estate. 

Ultimately, our tax dollars will increase because of this purchase and we will lose out on a ratable piece of property for a piece of land disguised as a park, but in reality it is far shy of being a park, rather acting as an the entry way to a large development.

If the owner is interested in an offer to acquire his land, then the negotiation should be directly between the two private parties without the Borough holding the possible use of eminent domain over the present landlord.

Most importantly for this petition, the purchase price does not need to be subsidized by public tax dollars.
