Unfair trade deals like NAFTA, CAFTA and Most Favored Nation status for China have all shipped jobs out of Wisconsin and led to job loss.

To counteract these flawed trade agreements, we need minimum trade standards that future trade agreements must meet, including standards for worker protections, the ability to enact and enforce our own trade laws, protection of U.S. public interest laws and imported food safety standards. At the same time as we stop more jobs from being shipped overseas, we need to fight to create new jobs at home.

Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold has already worked with state business leaders to create a jobs plan to put people back to work, and has recently introduced a plan for a payroll tax break that is targeted toward all businesses that hire new employees, increase wages or provide part-time employees full-time work.

Getting Americans back to work isn't going to happen by itself. We need smart policies and the right leaders to put them in place.
