Why This Is Important

we want the troops that are there now to be brought home!

While some news reports suggest President Obama is likely to send additional troops, there is still time for the American people to influence this decision! The President must know that there is NOT support for continuing this war that is costing billions of dollars, thousands of lives and increased hardship both in Afghanistan and here at home. The first step is to not send more troops. The next step must be the withdrawal of the troops currently there.

It is critical for President Obama to hear from people who oppose the war. So, call today!

Call the White House - 202-456-1111 - and tell President Obama to say no to escalation in Afghanistan & Pakistan, end the war and bring the troops home. The U.S. military is bringing chaos, not stability to Afghanistan & Pakistan. The U.S. economy cannot afford the cost of $1 million to keep one solider in Afghanistan & Pakistan  for one year. The U.S. would be better off removing troops and providing assistance to rebuild the countries. In short, remove the troops now, Stop digging more dirt.

Pakistani officials have told the Americans that they harbor two deep fears about Mr. Obama’s new strategy: that the United States will add too many troops on the Afghan side of the border, and that the American effort will end too soon.
Their first concern, described by officials on both sides of the recent discussions, is that if Mr. Obama commits an additional 30,000 or more troops, it will inevitably push more Taliban fighters across the border into Pakistani territory and complicate the South Waziristan offensive.
American officials have praised Pakistan’s leaders for finally launching comprehensive military attacks against Taliban forces that have conducted suicide bombings in the capital, on the military headquarters and last week against a key office of the main Pakistani intelligence service, the Inter-Services Intelligence directorate.
