About this Petition Petition Letter

Create a one-strike-and-you're-out policy for violent criminals. Rapists, pedophiles, and anyone who uses any sort of weapon when committing a crime will be sentenced to the rest of their life in prison after one offense. Jails will no longer provide dessert, juice, cable or other forms of recreation to inmates. This will cut costs dramatically as well as dissuade people from committing crime.

Dear Pesident Obama.

You won your presidency on the platform of change. While most Americans are so consumed with and paying attention to the financial aspect of that, the most important change that needs to be made in this country is being overlooked.

Our streets are flooded with criminals and that is what we need changed right away! It is not even safe for our children to walk home from school. It has been proven over and over that violent criminals do not change. Some may, but if they have it in them to change, they likely have it in them to not commit the act of violence in the first place if they knew they would go to jail for life.

Your daughters are surrounded by body guards constantly. Ours are not.

We need the laws to protect our children. We need to not have pedophiles, rapists and other violent criminals released back into our communities.

Mr. President, did you see Shaniya Davis on the news? Did you know the man who admits to taking her and is accused of raping and killing this five year old precious girl, has previously shot three people, one of them in the face, neck and chest? Did you know he was only sentenced to probation for that and was allowed to continue walking our streets? Did you know that while on that probation, he continued offending, including drug charges and even running over a police officer? Did you know with all these charges, he has spent less than three years in jail? Would you want this man living next door to your daughters, President Obama? Neither do we!

We understand jail budgets are stretched. Much of this could be alleviated by discontinuing the things prisoners receive that are not necessary for them to survive. There is no need for criminals to be provided with dessert, juice, cable, etc. Giving them these extra things is not a matter of humanity, as some people claim. It is not inhumane to lock people up who do inhumane things to others and not provide them extras.

Please sign this into law. I don't know why anyone would disagree besides the criminals.
