PM Youssef Raza Gilani of Pakistan has nominated Abdul Sattar Edhi for the Nobel Peace Prize. Please support this nomination for recognition of a truly deserving human being.

Edhi is an exceptional humanitarian who, along with his wife Bilquis Edhi, has dedicated his life to providing social services to the impoverished and under-serviced citizens of Pakistan at first, and now providing ambulance and other social services in Africa, the Middle East, eastern Europe, and even the US. Edhi stepped in to fill an immense void in Pakistan where the state failed to provide its citizens with basic and necessary social services and has been the only source of hope and aid for orphans, widows, the poor, and those faced with calamity for decades. Today, Edhi has commenced to provide similar services in other impoverished regions of the globe, and has done so in an entirely charitable manner. In a country marked with civil strife, impoverishment and violence, Edhi is a rare stroke of empathy for humankind , and a rare example of genuine generosity and compassion.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO SUPPORT THE NOMINATION OF DR. EDHI ?

You can put forth additional nominations for Dr. Edhi if you fall within any of the following categories:

1. Members of national assemblies and governments of states;
2. Members of international courts;
3. University rectors; professors of social sciences, history, philosophy, law and theology; directors of peace research institutes and foreign policy institutes;
4. Persons who have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize;
5. Board members of organizations who have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize;
6. Active and former members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee; (proposals by members of the Committee to be submitted no later than at the first meeting of the Committee after February 1) and
7. Former advisers appointed by the Norwegian Nobel Institute.
