Tell noodle soup makers redesign their cups to reduce burn injuries
Tell noodle soup makers redesign their cups to reduce burn injuries
The Issue
In a study broadcast on National Public Radio this week (http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2011/12/05/142634542/why-burn-doctors-hate-instant-soup), cup of noodles easily-tipped-over cups send dozens of children (many of them toddlers) to hospitals every week with severe burns. These soups are uniquely terrible because the cups are lightweight and easily toppled and the hot noodles are sticky, retaining their heat as they burn through the skin. Burn doctors hate these cups and have tried to get manufacturers to redesign them (one possibility is just to invert the cup, to make it like a Yoplait yogurt container) but they have had no success convincing the manufacturers. We need to urge people to boycott cup noodle-type products for their own (and their children's) safety and tell manufacturers we will not purchase this product until it can be made much less dangerous. http://www.nissinfoods.com/company/contactus.php
