Why This Is Important

Myanmar's military dictatorship continues to suppress democracy by sentencing Aung San Suu Kyi to 18 months house arrest. She only committed a minor infraction over which she had little control. The real reason for the sentence is obvious, to make sure she can't participate in the next election and again win a majority of the popular vote.  Aung San Suu Kyi is a highly regarded, peaceful leader, and the rightful, elected Prime Minister of Myanmar.

Dear Representative

Hi. As you already may be very well aware of, Myanmar's military dictatorship continues to suppress democracy by sentencing Aung San Suu Kyi to 18 months house arrest. She only committed a minor infraction over which she had little control. The real reason for the sentence is obvious, to make sure she can't participate in the next election and again win a majority of the popular vote. Aung San Suu Kyi is a highly regarded, peaceful leader, and the rightful, elected Prime Minister of Myanmar. Washington and the world should demand that the junta release Aung San Suu Kyi and allow her to resume her role in Burmese life and affairs. Thanx. Goodbye.
