MULTIPLE POST LISTINGS

03/19/11 UPDATE: I don't know that ANYTHING on this page is useful anymore.
There have been so many changes and there is only time to save a few things before imposed deadlines (on what were once open-ended actions) wipe everything out that was not updated by the "author". This is sad because there are some excellent actions where the activists responsible for posting it have left ch.o and with the new "beta" system, it is more time-consuming and difficult and tedious than ever to find past actions.

The main purpose of this pledge is to organize and identify replicated posts.

UPDATE 10/03/10 ---
As Alan suggests below --- when posting an action which has come from an activist org - it is always a good idea to first check with the search site tool to make sure that it has not been posted already.    Multiple posts of the same thing can be frustrating and time consuming etc to may of us.


I have updated only the gifting section below, as it is still relevant.     It is impossible for me to update new replications anymore, as the site has grown so huge and my computer was 'MIA' for too long.    If some of you are interested in contributing info about replications you happen to stumble on, I will be happy to add them to this list.    If some of you are into sending me info ref. actions which are no longer active so I can remove em from this list, that would be greatly appreciated.    


CHANGES: 
---   Most of the actions on the list below are prally no longer active???  BUT NOT ALL.
---   There is no link-sharing of actions between causes anymore (which I think is a good thing - what a mess that made LOL!) tho there may be a few shared actions from the past still up on the board?     I have not deleted this section because it is necessary in order to understand a number of the comments below and it could also clarify some confusions about how the site works.
---   There are more activest orgs participating here than there were when I created this list.    This means that they post their own actions and have more recruiting power than we have so it is counterproductive to post the same petitions on our own.

I am not deleting the history below, as there is some useful info with respect to potential situations you may encounter - info about what causes these --- and I can imagine there are some good actions listed below which are STILL ACTIVE.

The main purpose of this pledge is to organize and identify replicated posts.

This pledge also was originally designed in attempts to investigate some claims that there were people ripping off other people's posts for the sake of more points.
I did not find any proof of this but this pledge still serves multiple purposes. Several advantages:
--- If you wish to generate more points to help support charity orgs and ch.o thru the gift giving channel and know you have already signed a petition on a pledge, you can go straight to the replications and sign them also while knowing that there is no need to take the time to transfer to another site to sign the petition.
--- If you wish to save yourself even more time, you will also now know which ones you do not need to sign again without spending extra time and energy to discover this.
--- If an important action gets deeply buried over time, a more recent reposting of it will help recruit new members to the action and gain more signatures for it than if it remains buried.

To share an action with another cause on ch.o:
1. Click the black C
2. New page, begin typing the name of the cause until the legend for it appears below.
3. Click on your cause in the drop down box so that it then appears in the text box.
4. Click "SHARE".
I don't know about twitter but facebook is obvious.

I know there are a number of replicate petitions that appear to be different petitions, depending on how the action creator presented them. The obvious replications are pretty much on this list. I would liike to try to find the hidden replications but too many of them are buried pretty well, quite a slow process

We no longer have the tag option but we still have a good search tool in the upper righthand corner of every page on ch.o.
I have come to discover that it is the lack of organization among the orgs that is one of the major causes of post replications.
It is not always easy to avoid replicating someone else's post, esp if it has become buried with time.
