Mitsubishi purchases a very large percentage of the bluefin tuna catch in Japan.  Not only are they endangered, but the yearly catch is much higher than is allowed by international agreeements.  Mitsubishi could be single handedly responsible for decimating the bluefin tuna population with the hopes of profiting when they get fished into extinction.

This practice was researched and documented in the full length documentary "The End of The Line".

You state in your position:

Corporate Responsibility to Society: "Shoki Hoko"Strive to enrich society, both materially and spiritually, while contributing to the preservation of the global environment.

You cant cause the demise of  great Bluefin Tuna and be serious about protecting the environment.

Perhaps if we stop buying the many Mitsubishi products, they may realize that their customer base is much wider than the Japanese Sushi eaters.  We are also smarter than the dumb big fish that fall victim to their merciless buying practises

Mitsubishi corporation Stop Purchasing Most of the Bluefin Tuna

Greetings,

I recently learned that Mitsubishi owns more than one-third of the market for the critically endangered Atlantic Bluefin Tuna and that it is stockpiling these animals for future sale. I find it appalling that Mitsubishi would seek to profit from the slaughter and sale of an endangered species.

I understand that with the present rate of fishing, the Atlantic Bluefin is predicted to become extinct by 2012. Mitsubishi Corporation's role in fishing Bluefin Tuna to near extinction threatens to taint the entire Mitsubishi brand and make it synonymous with environmental destruction.

I for one, do not wish to associate myself with the Mitsubishi brand whilst Mitsubishi Corporation continues to stockpile and trade an endangered species. I also intend to inform my friends and family about this appalling practice.

I urge you to act as a responsible corporate citizen and help end the fishing of Bluefin Tuna.(taken from Animals Australia)
