Animal abuse and neglect is a problem in our county. Animal cruelty is often the most visible evidence of other criminal activity, including: illegal firearms possession, drug trafficking, gambling, spousal and child abuse, rape and homicide. Over the last few years, the State's Attorney's Office has failed to file charges on or prosecute animal abusers. It is time our county lets the State's Attorney's Office know we will not support inaction.
