Fredd Reyes, a college student and aspiring musician who has lived in the United States for 22 of his 24 years, was dragged off to a detention center one early morning in September 2010. But 3,500 Change.org members rallied in support of Fredd, and after weeks locked up in a notoriously inhumane center, Fredd was released from detention just in time for Thanksgiving.
Update: Thanks to your calls and signatures, ICE has released Fredd Reyes from detention in time for Thanksgiving.
More details here.
This marks the third individual victory for DREAMers this week. Earlier, Jennifer Abreu from Kentucky and Bernard Pastor from Ohio -- both DREAM Act - eligible youth - were also released from detention in time for Thanksgiving.
It's not over yet. Lets get the U.S. government to stop deporting a DREAMer with down syndrome and ensure passage of the DREAM Act in the lame duck session.

Fredd Reyes' education was put on hold the day that ICE knocked on his front door in North Carolina. This DREAMer, who has spent 22 of his 24 years in this country, is now facing imminent deportation in an inhumane detention facility in Georgia. His crime? He was brought here at the age of 2 and does not have papers declaring that he is an American. Read his story here and take action now and bring him home for Thanksgiving!

2. Call Do Price, Field Officer at Stewart Detention Center, at 229-838-1187 to urge deferral on the case of Fredd Reyes. (The voicemail is for a different name, but this is the correct number to call)
"Hi, I am calling to ask that you defer Fredd Reyes' removal. His A# is 073189270. He is a hard working student, who already has an approved green card waiting for him on the other side of your doors, and is an asset to North Carolina and the United States."
3. Call Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC) at 877-852-9462 and ask her support the DREAM Act, a bill that would give youth like Fredd the chance to no longer live in fear and to serve their communities

Free Fredd Reyes (A#073189270) for Thanksgiving
Greetings,
I am writing to ask that you defer Fredd Reyes' removal. His A# is 073189270. He is a hard working student, who is an asset to North Carolina and the United States.
On a September morning, just before dawn, ICE came knocking on Fredd Reyes’ door. It was 5 am and Fredd was asleep after a long night of studying for his exam at Guilford Technical Community College that very same day. Instead of taking his exam, Fredd was pulled from his sleep, handcuffed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and taken from his North Carolina home to North Georgia Detention Center. He was then transferred to the Stewart Detention center in Lumpkin, Georgia.
Twenty-two years ago, Fredd's family fled their native Guatemala in the face of death threats and persecution. Needless to say, they haven't been back since. Despite the clear danger they faced back in Guatemala, an immigration judge denied their bid for asylum in 2000.
Fredd earned his Associates Degree from Davidson County Community College and transferred to Guilford Tech to continue his education. He aspires to utilize his acting and singing skills to become a professional actor and renowned singer. He is neither a criminal nor a threat to this country, and completely undeserving of this inhumane treatment.
ICE has deferred the removal of many students like Fredd and with the renewed hopes for passage of the DREAM Act, there is no reason to keep Fredd in detention. Please release him, grant him deferred action or a private bill. A family is waiting for their son to come home for Thanksgiving.
