Thousands of rats are sold everyday by large pet companies like Petsmart and Petco. Some are sold for their intended purpose, lovable pets, however, many are sold as reptile food. Even the rodents that are going to be pets are not cared for properly by these "pet professionals". They aren't fed the proper food or given proper cages with plenty of toys to keep them occupied. Many are not handled on a daily basis and become much more likely to bite their owners. Some females become pregnant because of the lack of knowledge of the employees, who mistake the males for females and keep them in the same cages. Also, sick rats are often not given the medical attention they deserve, and are sent home with upper respiratory infections, costing the unsuspecting owners hundreds of dollars in vet bills.

Any experienced rat owner knows not to buy rats from pet stores. They are sickly, often pregnant, and bred in mills, only focusing on numbers, not health or temperament. We're here to protect those who don't know, and the real victims here: the poor rats that are born because of these people.

Pets over profit.
