Kitty Piercy: End Occupy Eugene Now

Occupy Eugene is already becoming a nuisance to people of Eugene. Not only does it make public areas inaccessible to most citizens, but it uses tax payer funded resources that this area cannot afford and is quickly becoming a vector with parasites and disease.

So far, the city has spent an estimated $150,000.00 on this "social experiment" and that number continues to grow. Let’s not forget that this is the same city that wanted to levy an additional sales tax to fund schools-now we're throwing money out the window.

Occupy Eugene is now asking for an indefinite extension in the waiver of the Eugene camping ordinance.  They claim that they are providing a service to the community. I don't think so. I think they are literally taking books out of the hands of our kids, taking police off of their normal patrol and taking attention off of the real issues our city faces. Enough is enough. It's time to clean house and take our city back.
