Why This Is Important

The Pro-Choice Caucus in the House of Representatives announced that it would not support a bill that will restrict a woman's right to choose any further than the current law.

This is a powerful move ignited by Representatives Diana DeGette and Louise Slaughter, and we need as many House members to sign-on to their letter of opposition addressed to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Tell your Members of Congress to show their support for women's rights by signing the letter to Speaker Pelosi now!

American Women Need Your Support

Dear Representative

I have just learned of the Pro-Choice Caucus’s letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi outlining objections to the intentions of the Stupak-Pitts Amendment.

The underlying healthcare bill, H.R. 3962, already includes compromise language, the Capps Amendment, which applies the Hyde amendment so that it has the same effect as it currently does in Medicaid. The health insurance exchange is not comparable to Medicaid. This is fundamentally a private healthcare system, whereby individuals will be purchasing plans from private insurance companies, in large part with their own money.

The Stupak-Pitts Amendment dramatically changes federal policies related to abortion coverage and undermines the principle of abortion neutrality in healthcare reform.

Coverage of reproductive healthcare for millions of American women is at stake, and your signature will go a long way to show your support for women’s rights. If you have not already signed the letter to Speaker Pelosi, I urge you to please add your name to the growing list of signatures and show that you support American women. Please ensure that abortion coverage remains accessible to ALL American women.

As your constituent, it is fundamental to me that you clearly and unequivocably support women's bodily autonomy and RIGHT to choose.
