Peoria, AZ: A tip led investigators to a pit bull whose leg was a bloody stump. According to her owner, Michelle Busse, Carmela was supposedly hit by a car a year ago. Although Busse did take Carmella to a veterinarian, she declined setting up a payment plan for treatment. Carmela was left to deal with her painful wounds, and she did so by chewing her own leg off.

Busse surrendered Carmela to Peoria's animal control unit. Carmela’s bloody stump has since been amputated. She is now receiving post-surgery care at the Sun Valley Animal Shelter. This sweet survivor is looking for a loving home, where she will receive the love and care she deserves.

Michelle Busse is now facing animal cruelty charges, with recommendations being made for felony charges.

This petition respectfully requests that if found guilty, Michelle Busse receive the maximum sentence for animal cruelty.
