Why This Is Important

On August 13, 2010, American Building Maintenance (ABM), JP Morgan Chase's janitorial contractor at Century Plaza Towers and 2000 Avenue of the Stars in Century City, Los Angeles, decided to layoff 16 workers and increase workloads. This move puts American families out on the street and the poses health and safety hazards to those workers left. Ask JP Morgan Chase to use its $95 billion taxpayer bailout money to provide good jobs not layoff working families.

Use Bailout Money for Jobs, Not Layoffs.

Dear Mr. Sears,

On August 13, 2010 American Building Maintenance (ABM), your janitorial contractor, decided to lay off 16 janitors at Century Park Towers and 2000 Avenue of the Stars in Century City. As a result, workers are left with increased hazards to their health and safety.

The Union understands the tough economic times and continues to work with employers throughout the area to negotiate reasonable changes and services. Despite these efforts from the Union, ABM implemented the reductions – putting workers health and safety at risk and leaving other workers and their families out on the street.

Mr. Sears, at a time when many Americans are losing jobs and families are struggling to make ends meet at home, it is time for JP Morgan to act responsibly. Considering the $95 billion your company received in taxpayer funded bailout money, you have an obligation to LA County residents to provide good jobs, not to layoff hardworking janitors without reason.
