After the TDSBs annual review of staffing, the number of teachers at Inglenook Community High School has been cut from 6 to 5 for the next school year. This loss is due to student numbers and the loss of the "alternative supplement" for teachers.

We the undersigned oppose the removal of one teacher from Inglenook Community High School.

Greetings,

By losing a teacher students will lose the presence of the innovative curriculum that has been refined over time. Not only will we lose classes, but we will lose the ability for teachers to give individual attention. In addition to this, it will inhibit teachers’ ability to provide mentoring and social work assistance to the increasing number of students in need.

Courses at risk include:
Human Growth and Development specializing in Queer Studies
Dramatic Arts
Fashion and Politics
English 12 specializing in Censored Literature
Non-Traditional Art
African American Studies
Native Studies
Writers Craft
Media Studies
Classic Civilizations

Extra-curricular activities/programs at risk include:
Community Outreach
The Art Gallery
Student Democracy Group
Garden and Ecology Club
Talent Night and Drama Productions
Conference Days with guest presenters
Equity and Gender Workshops
Inglenook’s Community for Equity and Equality (I.C.E. Committee)

The students of Inglenook care deeply about the school and are concerned for potential losses as they greatly benefit from the work that teachers do.
