On October 17, 2007 the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee unanimously passed the Sudan Accountability and Divestment Act (SADA) by a vote of 21-0. Championed by Senators Dodd and Shelby, this bill will increase economic pressure on the government of Sudan to help end the ongoing genocide in Darfur.
The bill:
* Protects state and local divestment
* Prohibits U.S. government contracts with companies fueling the genocide
* Authorizes states to prohibit contracts with companies fueling the genocide
Ask your Senator to support the Sudan Accountability and Divestment Act.

Dear Senator,
There are reports of new massacres in Darfur and insufficient supplies for the forces being sent there to protect its people. The United States must show some backbone. We have powerful economic leverage that can compel the government of Sudan to relent. We MUST starve that murderous regime of financial resources until the people of Darfur are no longer threatened.

Please support the Sudan Accountability and Divestment Act.
