Dance, Robots, Dance! is based in Oklahoma, where there are sixty seven Native American tribes, more than any other state. While nobody can be expected to understand the history and current state of all Native Americans, it was especially disheartening to see such blatant cultural appropriation in an area where people are expected to be more educated. It is understandable that their usage of Native Americans or sacred clothing/rituals was not meant be to disrespectful and has actually become quite trendy (but still offensive) over the past few years. When it was called to their attention, it was ignored and laughed at. The promoters refused to acknowledge the flier was offensive and the reaction problematic and instead covered it up and erased comments on their facebook page much like colonizers attempted to erase Native Americans for hundreds of years.
Acknowledge the use of Racist imagery in fliers agree stop doing so.
