It's been a tough year: in North America, oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico; in Asia some of the highest temperatures ever recorded; in the Arctic, the fastest melting of sea ice ever seen; in Latin America, record rainfalls washing away whole mountainsides.
So we're having a party.
Circle October 10, 2010 on your calendar. That's the date. The place is wherever you live. And the point is to do something that will help deal with global warming in your city or community. We're calling it a Global Work Party.
With your help, 10/10/10 is going to be the biggest day of practical climate action that the world has ever seen. In thousands of communities all over the globe, people will gather and get to work on projects that can cut carbon and build the clean energy future.
Get involved and explore the 10/10/10 map to see what kind of climate solutions are happening in your community: http://350.org/map
UPDATE: Over 5,400 actions are now signed up for October 10th!

Here are a few projects ideas for 10/10/10:
* Install solar panels on a symbolic location
* Weatherize a neighbor's house
* Plant 350 trees
* Start a local wind project
* Take part in a trash clean-up
* Host a bike repair workshop
* Harvest a community garden
After a hard day's work, we'll send a powerful message to our politicians, written in the grit and sweat of our palms: "We're getting to work, What about you?" Together, we'll pressure our leaders to Get To Work themselves by passing strong climate policies.
Please sign this pledge, but make sure to also sign-up for a local action, or register your own! www.350.org
I pledge to help make 10/10/10 the biggest day of climate action ever
Count me in!
I'm going to get to work on projects that help deal with global warming in my community -- and demand my politicians get to work on climate policies that really make a difference.
