Hey Madison Hotel, That's no Way to Treat Your Workers!
The Issue
The Madison Hotel in Washington, D.C. is an iconic luxury hotel just blocks from the White House. For decades its workers have been represetned by Unite Here, a hospitality and service sector union. But when the hotel was sold, a new management company took over.
Not only did the new company make the 150 unionized employees reapply for their jobs, they are also refusing to honor the contract the previous company had made with employees that determines things like wages, benefits, grievance procedures, worker protections and more. Workers have gone on strike because of the ill treatment they are receiving from this new company. Support the striking workers.
Please write to Jamestown Properties, the new onwner of the Madison and demand that they treat their workers with respect. They need to honor the longstanding labor contract the hotel has had with its workers.
