Why This Is Important

Mental health funds are constantly being removed from the system. People cannot get their medications, state psychiatric hospitials are being closed, there is not access to therapy, and I could list more but it would take too long. I am a 15 year old with bipolar and ADHD and I have seen the many people that need help but cannot get it because there is no money in the mental health system. My father has a non-profit focused on reporting about the system, so I have seen families who need a prescription that could have a 10$/month co-pay but instead they are having to live wondering what might happen that day, or the next, or the next. It is a very serious problem. If the government put some money back towards mental health, they could save hundreds of thousands. It costs many many times as much to lock someone up as it would to get them proper care. My mother has gotten the city where I live to offer classes that help divert people from jails. What I am saying is more money in the system could save money, better programs could be made, and everyone could live a little fuller life!

Stop taking money from the mental health system!

Dear Representative

The mental health system needs money to help all the people who cannot afford meds, lengthy hospital stays, or therapy. Some of us have great insurance so we don't have to pay as much. But I have seen the poor people who don't have this. They live life day by day, wondering what might happen next. They live life scared, and needing help. If there was more money, there would be proper care, and that would keep people out of jail, which would save money. Everyone could life a little fuller. I know this sounds a little like someting a lot of people write, but the world really would be a better place.
