I need your help to put pressure on the biggest suppliers of unsustainable palm oil to the U.S. market right now. ADM and Cargill are two of the biggest suppliers of palm oil to the U.S. market and are sourcing and selling palm oil from the world's remaining rainforests and peatlands, produced by some of the world's most destructive operations.

The Indonesian government recently announced that peatlands will be opened up for further palm oil expansion, and I need your help to make sure these companies don't go along with the government's plans.
With your help, 39 food, cosmetic and consumer goods companies, including Whole Foods, Organic Valley, L'occitane and two organic palm oil suppliers, have signed RAN's pledge to source palm oil that does not contribute to destroying the world's remaining tropical rainforests, ignore forest peoples' and worker's rights or contribute to global climate change.

More than 90% of the palm oil entering the U.S. market comes from plantations in Malaysia and Indonesia, most of it planted on areas that were natural tropical and peat land rainforests. ADM and Cargill own plantations in and buy from these areas and then sell to intermediary manufacturers or directly to companies that put palm oil in products such as snack foods, candies, soaps, detergents and cosmetics on the shelf.

Congress is supposed to represent the people. Today they have the chance to represent you by supporting the Capitol Climate Action.

By taking action now you can help encourage ADM and Cargill to take responsibility for their role in the global palm oil industry. ADM and Cargill need to ensure that their suppliers are not involved in natural forest destruction in peatlands.

Ask them to commit to sourcing palm oil that does not contribute to destroying the world's remaining tropical rainforests, ignore forest peoples' and worker's rights or contribute to global climate change.

For the forests, communities and the climate,

Thanks and God bless
