Help Protect 4 Million Acres of America's Wilderness

Help Protect 4 Million Acres of America's Wilderness

The Issue

The 111th Congress is rapidly coming to a close and with it a chance to protect nearly 4 million acres of America’s wild lands. The Wilderness Society is mounting a campaign to urge Congress to pass twenty wilderness bills in a dozen states, before Congress adjourns in October.

From the quiet woodland coves of Tennessee and West Virginia to the spectacular wilderness of the Boulder White Clouds in Idaho and the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, much of America’s natural heritage is at risk and we need Congress to act now to protect these wild lands.

Please take a moment to urge your members of Congress to pass unfinished wilderness legislation.

"If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them something more than the miracles of technology. We must leave them a glimpse of the world as it was in the beginning, not just after we got through with it."

— President Lyndon B. Johnson, on the signing of the Wilderness Act of 1964
