Jose Cruz is an immigrant from Chiapas, Mexico who was hired in California by Jun's Associates to perform construction and roofing work. After working long hours, his employer "kept saying he would pay me, but he either didn't at all, or would pay me with checks that bounced," says Cruz.
Finally, Cruz contacted La Raza Centro Legal, a Bay Area community-based legal organization that assists and empowers immigrant workers to defend their labor rights. With LRCL's help, Cruz filed a wage theft complaint against his employer with the California Labor Commissioner in September 2010. The Commissioner ordered Jun's Associates to pay $6213.11 in wages, penalties and interest--no small sum for an immigrant worker.
However, five months later, Jun's Associates has yet to pay back the wages they stole from Mr. Cruz.
Help Mr. Cruz get his rightfully-earned wages back from Jun's Associates.
Pay Back the Wages You Owe Jose Cruz
Mr. Jun:
I am writing to encourage you to pay Jose Cruz the wages you owe him.
Jose Cruz worked for your company, Jun's Associates, performing construction and roofing work but you failed to pay him according to local labor law.
Mr. Cruz even filed a complaint with the California Labor Commissioner, who ruled that you owe Mr. Cruz over $6000.00. You even agreed to pay Mr. Cruz in installment, but have never held up your end of the bargain.
Wage theft is a serious problem in America, and effects hundreds of thousands of poor and immigrant workers every week.
Please do not contribute to the problem of wage theft in the US. Pay Mr. Cruz the wages you owe him.
Thank you,
