STOP Forced Busing In Louisville, KY

The Issue

This is important because children are being adversely affected by it. Many children are sitting on buses for HOURS - when they could be at home being children, doing their homework and playing with friends in their neighborhood.

Instead, a bunch of bureaucrats have decided they they should be bused across town and away from their neighborhood friends.

The children being bused to these schools most of the time are unable to participate in extra-curricular activities and their parents are unable to attend school functions because the distance is too great and the parents work - any by the time the parents could make it there, it would be over. Many of these parents also have more than one child and the children aren't even going to the same schools but are literally being schooled all over Louisville, KY - making it completely impossible for parents to attend anything... which is very sad. I have a friend of mine who has 4 children and this is the case for her - her children are everywhere and don't get to do anything extracurricular. The children themselves are unable to get home unless they get on that bus - so their quality of life is VERY MUCH being affected.

Imagine if you are a child and you are gifted, a good athlete, an aspiring musician, writer or photographer and you want to play a sport, or be a part of the cheerleading or dance team - or you want to play in the band... but because you are being bused across town, you cannot participate because you have no way to get home. Is that fair? Is that right? NO... NO IT IS NOT!!

This is all being done under the guise that it improves the lives of children of color - just to sit next to someone who is white in a classroom. I'm sorry, that's offensive! No person of ANY color has to sit next to someone else whose parents have more money and live in a nicer neighborhood in order to make it in life!! It isn't like success rubs off on anyone!

Children who attend what are regarded as 'affluent' schools can perform just as poorly as children across town or have serious behavioral problems. Columbine High School is a good example. Columbine is one of the most well-to-do schools in the entire Denver area, yet they still had two mass murderers attending classes up until the fateful day they took the lives of their teachers, classmates and themselves. The point is that what makes a difference in children's lives is the love of their families and the influence of wonderful teachers who also love and care for the children.

No one's child should be bused for hours in order to appease the PR police. . to fulfill what they think is 'fairness' or 'diversity'. I don't think what I've described above is 'fair' at all - to anyone. Not even the taxpayers who foot the bill for all this nonsense. I might add that forced busing has been declared unconstitutional and most counties and states across America have stopped this practice -- because it doesn't work.
