Home Start Harrow has supported families with children under 5 living in the borough of Harrow since 1981. We train volunteers who are parents themselves to visit families in their own homes to give them practical and emotional support. We know from the thousands of families we have supported over 32 years that this service is a life line to many vulnerable families who come from all walks of life and communities. They may be dealing with difficult situations such as the disability of a child or parent, domestic violence, post natal depression or isolation.
We have built up a professionally run organisation supported by our skilled and loyal band of volunteers. Many come from professional backgrounds or have been supported by Home Start themselves. They are all passionate in their support for families who without their visits would not receive the in depth support that many need to enable them to cope with the particular difficulties they have in bringing up parenting their young children.
Harrow Council have contracted us to provide this service for many years and told us very recently that their funding would be withdrawn at the end of March. If you feel that we should have the opportunity to remain open, until we can at least, be part of the tendering process the council is proposing to allocate funding please sign the petition below.
