Fredy Avellaneda is a DREAM Act student eagerly awaiting the opportunity to accomplish his education and career goals.
Fredy was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) authorities while en-route to work. He was immediately arrested and sent to a detention center where he is currently being held.
Fredy is a remarkable and intelligent person. He was a member of Pahokee High School's Honor Society and graduated in the top 20 percent of his class. He was also the Youth Group coordinator and co-leader of a soccer team at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He has participated as a mentor with the sole intention of lending a hand and maintaining teens away from drugs and negative peer pressure.
Despite his community service and his good grades, Fredy is facing deportation proceedings.
PLEASE halt deportation proceedings!!! Provide Fredy the opportunity to accomplish his dream -- live a successful life!
Halt Deportation of DREAM Act student
Dear Representative
I write to respectfully request that you take action to immediately halt the deportation of DREAM Act student Fredy Avellaneda.
Fredy was brought to United States from Mexico at the age of 9. Almost 20 years later, he is being removed from home to a country he hardly knows. On July 16, 2009, while en-route to work, Fredy was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) authorities. He was immediately arrested and sent to a detention center where he is currently held.
Fredy has never had any problems with the law; on the contrary, he is an asset to our community. While attending Pahokee Middle Senior High School, he completed countless hours of community service, served in the Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) program, and graduated in the top 20 percent of his class. As an aspiring Doctor, all he has ever wanted is to continue his education and have a successful career – but unfortunately our country's laws prevent him from accomplishing his dreams.
It would be a disservice to both him and to our country's values to deport him. We urge you to immediately take action to stop his deportation proceedings.
Sincerely,
[Your name]
