GreenPeace's Petition to Stand up for the Whales
Hi, my name is Junichi, and I’m facing up to 10 years in prison for protecting whales. Last year, Toru Suzuki and I were arrested after exposing a widespread whale meat embezzlement scandal within Japan’s whaling industry. I’ve put my life on the line to stop my government from whaling, and I won’t stop now.
Thanks to all of your support, my bail conditions have been eased and I’m writing to you from Madeira, Portugal and the next battleground to save the whales.
The International Whaling Commission (IWC) is meeting this week to decide the fate of whales.
A lot has changed since we were arrested, but unfortunately, Japan’s pursuit of commercial whaling is still as extreme as ever. Every year, they bring pro-whaling political maneuvering to the meeting and try to get enough votes to reopen commercial whaling.
We can’t let that happen! Please help me see justice for the whales. Sign Greenpeace’s petition asking the U.S. delegation to end whaling.
I won’t rest until there’s justice for whales I need your help to make this happen. I’ve been so moved by your continued support and I know I can count on you to sign the petition and help whales in their time of need.
For the whales,
Junichi Sato
Greenpeace Japan
Petition to Stand up for the Whales
The International Whaling Commission is meeting in Madiera, Portugal.
Sign our petition telling the Obama Administration to lead the way in defending the whales.
Whale hunting for commercial purposes must be stopped, calm returned to the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary, and the government of the United States must stand up with its citizens for the whales and the oceans that give them life.
