As Certified/Licensed/Professional Massage Therapists, we believe that the producers and talent associated with the television talk show titled "The View" have severely and irresponsibly slandered our state certified/licensed profession in the eyes of a national television audience.
Request for Apology from "The View" to Certified/Licensed/Professional Massage Therapists
Dear Producers of "The View,"
During the panel's June 24th discussion on allegations regarding Al Gore and a Portland, OR massage therapist, the conversation morphed from a gossip fest about one particular incident into a complete blanket defamation of Professionally Certified/Licensed Massage Therapists as a group.
Do the producers and "talent" associated with this show realize how severely and irresponsibly they have slandered an entire population of state certified and/or licensed professionals in the eyes of a national television audience?
I am a health care professional, not a sex worker. I find the ignorance and misinformation displayed on this program to be offensive to an entire population of massage therapists including state and non-state certified/licensed health care professionals, as well as a disservice to the public as a whole. Shame on "The View."
In response, I have joined a Facebook Group, "Licensed Massage Therapists Requesting a Public Apology from 'The View.'" In less than 48 hours, we already have over 1,500 members, and many of us plan to partake in the boycott of both the show and your sponsor's until we feel that an appropriate public apology has been aired on the show.
Sincerely,
[Your name]
