Free Joanne Marchetti
To the Honorable Governor Jerry Brown,
I am writing to urge you to uphold the California Board of Parole Hearing’s decision to release Joanne Marchetti on parole. The California Board of Parole Hearings agreed that she poses no threat to public safety and is ready to resume life as a productive member of the community.
Furthermore, with the State of California in ongoing budget crisis and each prisoner costing taxpayers close to $41,000 per year, it only makes sense to release prisoners who are deemed eligible for parole.
Joanne has worked to transform herself during her incarceration to help those around her is living proof of her genuine eagerness and enthusiasm to make a positive difference. In an ongoing process of healing and gaining insight into her crime, she has been a participant in the twelve-step program and drug awareness counseling, was elected to the governing body of Convicted Women Against Abuse (CWAA) and has been involved in the award-winning documentary “Sin by Silence”, about CWAA and incarcerated survivors of abuse. Joanne has also successfully completed her AA degree from Chaffey College.
I urge you to release Joanne Marchetti. I believe in Joanne. I believe she should be approved for parole. I believe her story and experiences to be vital in helping create awareness about the dangers of domestic violence. I believe that her life can be best utilized if she has the ability to directly impact people whose lives she can help lead away from a path of devastating choices.
Sincerely,
[Your name]
