Why This Is Important

I'm an Eiserhower socialist.  By that I mean the tax rates in effect when Eisenhower was President are what we must reinstate to solve the Federal deficit.  We should also eliminate the cap on income subjecte to social security and medicare taxes.  That will solve those 2 issues as well.

The Republicans talk about dealing with the deficit but they refuse to face the economic and social issues facing this country.  The increasingly huge income inequality will inevitable result in a revolution.  I don't want to see this happen.  Returning to the income inequality that existed when Eisenhoweer was President will restore the middle class and eliminate almost all homelessness.  It will also result in a major reducetion on childhood hunger.

Making the above tax changes are the only way this objective can be achieved.  Anything else we deaql with is a bandaid.  It's really sad to see hedge fund operators making billions of dollars a year paying taxes at 15%.  It's really sad to see the statistics showing the top income people paying an effective federal tax rate at less than 21% when the top rate now is 35%.  Pushing the top tax rate to 90% will result in the top earners paying taxes in the 50% to 60% range.  They will still have incomes of over 100 million dollars a year.  This seems for than adequate for someone to live very well indeed.
