The Credit CARD Act will institute common sense, pro-consumer reform like requiring advance notice of interest-rate increases, banning the practice of universal default, and protecting young people from unscrupulous lending practices.

This critical legislation is set to go into effect in February 2010 to allow the credit card companies time to update their systems and implement the new policies. Sadly, they are using this time to game the system.

This was plagiarized word for word from Colorado U.S. Senator Mark Udall.  I apologize for that, but this is important!!

Stop Republican Obstruction and Protect American Consumers

Dear Decision Maker,

The Credit CARD Act will institute common sense, pro-consumer reform like requiring advance notice of interest-rate increases, banning the practice of universal default, and protecting young people from unscrupulous lending practices.

This critical legislation is set to go into effect in February 2010 to allow the credit card companies time to update their systems and implement the new policies. Sadly, they are using this time to game the system.

Enough is enough. That's why we need the Expedited CARD Reform for Consumers Act to move up the deadline to implement the Credit CARD Act and legislation introduced by Senators Mark Udall and Chris Dodd to freeze interest rates immediately. Unfortunately, Republican Senators are using procedural tactics to hold up this legislation and prevent us from protecting American consumers in a time of economic crisis. That's unacceptable.

Please support this critical legislation, stop credit card companies from gaming the system, and protect American consumers now.
