Release Hidden Info on Agent Orange Chemical

The Issue

The EPA has been reviewing dioxin – the chemical that made Agent Orange so dangerous – since 1985. That’s more than 20 years!

Why is the EPA hiding its assessment of dioxin, the single most potent cancer-causing chemical identified by scientists?

Cancer is killing our kids. Every sixty minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer and every six hours, a child will lose her battle to cancer. Cases of pediatric cancer have increased 30% over the last 30 years, to the point that cancer is now the nation’s leading cause of death by disease in children.

Today, environmental carcinogens are everywhere, wreaking havoc with our health and our children’s health. Yet the extremely toxic dioxin isn’t regulated by the government.

By the end of January, the EPA is scheduled to release its report about health impacts from dioxin exposure. The report will become the basis for the EPA to set safe limits for dioxin exposure. It’s already known the largest source of exposure to dioxin is through the diet, primarily animal fats including fish, meat, eggs, and cheese.

Not surprisingly, industry lobbyists representing food and chemical interests have protested the release of the report, arguing the information would panic consumers.

What really panics people is the number of children getting cancer.

Healthy Child Healthy World is committed to helping parents keep their kids safe from environmental threats that lead to diseases. Parents are already reading labels, buying fresh foods, and avoiding products containing toxic chemicals. But more needs to be done.
