End the Unjust and Unfair Ban on Travel to Cuba

End the Unjust and Unfair Ban on Travel to Cuba

The Issue

Giving Americans the freedom to travel anywhere and to exchange with anyone, regardless of whether or not the two governments get along, is the right thing to do-and, in the case of Cuba, now is the time to do it.

The ban on travel to Cuba is, first and foremost, an infringement upon Americans' rights, but Cubans are harmed, too. Without American travelers visiting Cuba, the only "American" idea that most Cubans are exposed to on a daily basis is the United States' punitive economic embargo.

We must end the travel ban on Cuba and move our two countries toward a respectful, humane relationship.

With a new Congress ready to take control in Washington next year, it is up to President Obama to show leadership and announce new regulations on people-to-people travel. People want to go to Cuba for many reasons – cultural, educational, religious, for sports, and more. It is high time for this 50-year old travel ban to end – and the President does have the authority to make a difference in our right to travel.

He needs to demonstrate to citizens of this nation and to the new Congress the direction that he wants this policy to take, the direction that the great majority of U.S. citizens want this policy to take, the direction that the majority of Cuban Americans want this policy to take -- and without delay.

The White House and President Obama need to hear from people who expect our leaders to correct this injustice. You can add your voice to the campaign for the freedom to travel to Cuba today. Please take action and tell the President that you support the freedom to travel to Cuba - and that you're paying attention and expect him to do the right thing.
