Why This Is Important

The idea of planting a victory garden is not a new one. It was a mainstay of our elders during WWII as a way to economize on fuel (used to transport the food) and to provide food for our soldiers abroad.  Planting an organic garden now, no matter how small, achieves similar goals for our generation. We can provide healthful food for ourselves and our families, economize in this time of need, and save fuel needed to transport food around the globe. Eating locally, organically, and seasonally provides other benefits, such as quality time with loved ones, healthful living, and the development of a different skill set, skills that we can pass down to our children and grandchildren. And while you are at it, it is important to use heirloom seeds in order to support biodiversity in what we consume and pass on to future generations.

Will you join me by planting a garden, no matter how small?
