Why: It is important for Discovery Network to live up to high standards, on all levels. From the top person down to each person on each show. It is a critical balance to keep the people informed on the animals and how important they are to be here, and keeping them safe on the show. Animals should never have to be planted, and scenes should not be staged or setup, especially so for an educational live or reality show.
Discovery used to be such a highly respected network, broadcasting on their channels trustworthy information. It used to be a go-to kind of 'place' in which you would receive a no-drama, matter-of-fact source of information, where you did not have to worry too much about what you were watching. Over the times, it's become more and more of a popularity contest, and just downright something that most of the original watchers find rather disgusting or just sad. What specifically brought this on, Call of the Wildman and the one episode where he was catching bats mid-flight: Something you should not do, and holding them up by their wings, being another thing you don't do. {*Clip posted below.} We are not here to demoralize a human for what they do, but wish that Animal Planet would stop doing reality shows with planted scenes, placed animals and put out truthful information.

Myths & Facts: https://www.batworld.org/myths_facts_page/
There has been so much disappointment with the network in how they operate, the shows they broadcast and the actual content on the shows and sites themselves. It is hard enough to deal with the general public, their fears and trying to ease them, about so many creatures and especially bats. Truth is, most people are simply mis-informed or not informed at all, and once they learn the truth about bats and all the good they do they start to realize they are good to keep around. This is a simple truth that stands fast for most feared species, under educated and mis-informed people making generalized assumptions because of what they see on television or hear from family and friends. I plan to tell my family and friends about this show, this channel, this network and I do not plan to watch any further Animal Planet programs until I know that some actions have been taken. What do we want done? We want placement and planted scenes to stop. We want real information, not old wives tales: You are Animal Planet/Discovery Channel, live up to higher standards and gain our respect back.

Hello,
