The Tigress Jhurahura was killed back in May by a driver that should not have been in the reserve after hours.  Jhurahura had three cubs that were supposed to be under the protection of the BD.  There was supposed to be an enclosure built to protect the three cubs.  We have just learned that the enclosure is not completed and one cub was killed by a big male tiger.  We do not have clear indication that the other two cubs are okay.  These cubs need to be protected as the issue of the Tigress Jhurahura will not go away if her cubs are gone.  This will only make matters worse.

THE CUBS OF TIGRESS JHURAHURA

Dear Dr. Manmohan Singh, Honorable Prime Minister

The dead Jhurjhura tigress in Bandhavgarh now represents all those tigers that died an untimely death in the hands of humans.

We have been watching and counting the numbers backwards as more and more fall prey to poaching, dwindling habitat, man-human conflict and the worse is the Hit and Run case.

Jhurjhura died at the hands of a few, so-called VIP’s who feel they are above law of the land. She was presumably overrun twice mercilessly by a speeding vehicle (forest department) which entered the forest early mornings (not during park timing).

Both Mr. Akshay Singh and Dr Pandey should be arrested immediately and tried under 'Wildlife Protection Act' for murder as was mentioned in Dr. Rajesh Gopal's report.

The worst case scenario is we still dont have any verdict or even a single arrests on this case.

Jhurjhura leaves behind 3 cubs whose fate is uncertain.

The other worst case scenario today is after all the promise by MP goverment to take care of the cubs - due to sheer callousness with an in-complete enclosure we have lost ONE CUB. Such sheer inefficiency how do we depend on such systems who talk to saving the Tigers in India.

If we decided to play politics for each death of a tiger then as an avid lover of the tiger we dont see much future for the pride of India.

Looking forward to you with sincere hopes.

Thanking you

Regards,
