Jeremy Walters is running as a Republican in the 67th House District in Iowa. Walters has a deep history with the Iowa GOP, including serving as a House District Director for Polk County, as well as a Precinct Chairman and a County Delegate.

Yet Walters has made some deeply disturbing comments about gays and lesbians, announcing in a Facebook status message that AIDS is punishment for homosexuality.

"The Holy Bible say (sic) if your (sic) "GAY" homosexual they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. This tells me alot (sic) so should we kill them NO. They Need to ask God to forgive them of their sins and mean it turn away from it. They also need to know that when it says that their blood shall be upon them that tells me it is AIDS. Thats (sic) how I feel," Walters said in his Facebook status.

Will the Iowa GOP allow someone like Walters to speak for their party? Please take a moment to demand that the Iowa GOP condemn these kind of remarks. No political party should stand by while its members make such inflammatory, inaccurate, and deeply offensive comments.

Please condemn the homophobic comments of GOP candidate Jeremy Walters

Dear Iowa GOP,

A Republican candidate for Iowa's 67th House District, Jeremy Walters, has made some outrageous statements regarding homosexuality and HIV. On his Facebook page, Walters announced that he believes that homosexuality is to blame for AIDS, a deeply offensive and dangerous statement that should be condemned by all sides of the political aisle.

Since Walters is a figure within the Iowa GOP, including serving as a House District Director for Polk County, as well as a Precinct Chairman and a County Delegate, I urge the Iowa Republican Party to speak out against Walters' comments. There's no place for comments like this in politics.

Thank you for your time.
