Raquel Nelson, a mother in Atlanta Ga. is facing sentencing of three years for jaywalking, which resulted in the death of her son, A.J. Young A.J was struck and killed by a driver that admitted to drinking shortly before, as well as being on pain killers, he also has a bad driving record.  Raquel was dropped off by the bus at the stop right outside her apartment building. It was late at night, with three tired children, and the safest decision for her was to cross right where she was dropped off. At the risk of getting robbed, raped or worse, crossing at this stop without the crosswalk was the safest option for all.

I want crosswalks to be mandatory at all bus stops. If there had been a crosswalk where Raquel Nelson was dropped off, she would not have been jaywalking, and her four year old son A.J would not have been killed. Let's keep A.J's story as a motivation to get this done. No one should lose their child ever again.
