Madison Leuchtmann of Franklin County, MO is on the verge of becoming permanently deaf.  CIGNA, her health insurer, has denied her the ability to hear. 

"Madison’s pediatrician, Dr. Randall Clary, insists that without the implant, the girl may never be able to hear again. Unfortunately, the Leuchtmann’s family insurer, Cigna, has issued “one denial after another,” flatly refusing to cover the $20,000 bill for the implant."

Yet, CIGNA is sponsoring an event at Walt Disney World in Florida.  Disney should not accept sponsorship from a company with such disregard for children's health.  Denying a child the ability to hear, when technology is available to reverse this process is a crime.

Tell Disney we won't purchase their products or visit their parks until they force CIGNA to do the right thing.

CIGNA sponsorship

Dear Decision Maker,

I am writing to express deep concern over the fact that CIGNA is a sponsor of the Walt Disney World Marathon.

With Disney's rich history of entertaining and caring for children and the Disney Foundation's many good and charitable works it is hard for me to see how Disney could allow the sponsorship of a company like CIGNA. I find the disconnect between what Disney stands for and CIGNA's refusal to pay for a 6 year old girl's hearing implant deeply disturbing.

Madison Leuchtmann could be given the ability to hear. The implant is available to allow this child the gift of hearing her parents' voices; the sound of a Disney cartoon yet CIGNA is firm in denying this child that ability.

Is this an act with which Disney wants to be associated? Refusing this child the ability to hear when we have, as a nation, developed medical devices to correct her deafness?

Until Disney refuses sponsorship from CIGNA, we will boycott all Disney products. All DVD's, the Disney channel, toys, parks and anything else bearing the Disney name.

Please, don't allow this to happen to this child.
