Bluefly is a leading online retailer of designer clothing. They recently aired a "Closet Confessions" video with figure skater Johnny Weir showing off his love for fur clothing. He spent much of the segment draped in fur, showing off a "fur tree" that included a fox/python hat and a lynx skirt, and lounging on a bed covered in pelts and fur pillows.
Millions of animals are killed for their fur every year - wild animals that spend their lives in small cages on farms, only to be brutally killed.
Several designers have proven that fashion can be compassionate. Tell Bluefly that you won't support them until they stop selling fur products.
Adopt a Fur-Free Policy
Dear Bluefly,
I recently read on Change.org about Bluefly's "Closet Confessions" with Johnny Weir, where he shows off some of his fur collection and says how much he loves wearing fur.
Millions of animals are subjected to unspeakable cruelty in the fur industry. It is simply not necessary to use fur in clothing when there are so many humane alternatives.
Several designers have recognized the cruelty behind fur and have adopted fur-free policies, including Ed Hardy, John Bartlett, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, BCBGMAXAZRIA, and others. Overstock.com has also been entirely fur-free since 2008.
I will not shop at Bluefly until you adopt a fur-free policy. Please support compassionate fashion.
Sincerely,
[Your name]
