With today's increasing medical costs and the lack of health coverage many people suffer, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas should allow same-sex partner benefits in their small group coverage, just as they do in large group coverage. Denying coverage to certain groups, but allowing it for others is unfair, and can have catastrophic consequences for the uninsured.

It's clear that a company like BCBS of Texas is discriminating when it excludes certain groups from their health coverage benefits, but allows them in other circumstances. A representative of BCBS of Texas stated that unmarried partner benefits are not available in their small group plans.
