I am writing to ask you to cosponsor the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act.  Senator Clinton, you cosponsored this bill last year for a reason and I ask that you do the same this year.  I understand there are a lot of issues at hand in DC at this time, however you being a cosponsor for the bill  is very important and I ask that you take time out of your schedule and cosponsor S 311 as soon as possible.

The United States Supreme Court denied hearing the appeal of the two -->-->-->Texas-->--> slaughter houses. Those two slaughter houses remain closed and horse slaughter for human consumption remains illegal.

As you may or may not know the American people of the great state of -->-->Illinois-->--> have spoken and on May 24th 2007 the Governor signed into law a bill prohibiting the slaughter of horses for human consumption. The slaughter house challenged the law and lost. This law closed the last horse slaughter house in the -->-->USA-->-->.

With <b>NO</b> horse slaughter houses in the -->United States--> our horses are now and will continue to be transported under cruel and abusive conditions to -->-->Mexico-->--> to be butchered alive and suffer the worst death imaginable.

The only way to stop this is the immediate passage of S 311&nbsp;and HR 503 that would prohibit horse slaughter for human consumption in the -->-->US-->--> and the transport of horses across our borders for that purpose.

On April 25th 2007 S 311 was ordered favorably without amendment by the Committee of Commerce, Science, and Transportation. We need cosponsors and leadership to help get S 311 to the floor for a vote.
