Bank of America has been promising to help homeowners enter into a loan remodification. Homeowners that have steady income and good jobs but have had a hard time paying the mortgage need to be helped instead of being tossed out into the street. Bank of America is constantly claiming they want to help us stay in our homes yet, when the majority of us apply for loan mods, there are so many excuses as to why they WON'T help us.  90% of people that apply for a home modification loan are TURNED DOWN!!  WHY?
In 2008, my husband I and had our loan through Countrywide. They worked with us and we were able to get a loan mod, bring our mortgage down to a reasonable monthly payment. It was a DONE DEAL.
We made our payments in a timely manner for a few months. Until B of A took over Countrywide. We then got notice that B of A would not be honoring our loan mod but they informed us of a similar program for which we would EASILY qualify. We applied.
We were DECLINED for a mod. Not only that but, our payment went back up.
We tried 4 times over the course of the next few years.
DECLINED. DECLINED. DECLINED. DECLINED.
They have started the Foreclosure process on us.
My husband has been employed as a teacher for 19 years. He has never been laid off and has worked many summers to help make ends meet. With the Countrywide deal, we would have been able to live COMFORTABLY and we wouldn't be in danger of losing the home we've lived in for 7 years.   We have 5 children, 4 of them that live with us, ranging in ages 7-15.  This would TRAUMATIZE them!
Bank of America is taking homes that shouldn't be taken. They are not being forthright and they are being FRAUDULENT.
If anything, even if we do lose our home, it is important to me that people be aware that if they entered into a home loan modification, Bank of America MUST HONOR IT. What they are doing is ILLEGAL, IMMORAL, and a great way to SHATTER the financial future of HARD WORKING AMERICANS.
