I just signed the following petition addressed to: Bahrain Interior Ministry.

أعلنت الداخلية البحرينية عبر حسابها في تويتر أنها في المراحل الأخيرة من التعاقد مع "جون تيموني". هذا الشخص ذو التاريخ المخزي في التعامل مع المتظاهرين.

لقد قام "جون تيموني" بتطوير نموذج ميامي في التعامل مع المتظاهرين خلال عمله كرئيس شرطة ميامي و الذي يتضمن استخدام قنابل الغاز، رشاشات الفلفل، الغاز مسيل الدموع، الرصاصات المطاطية، و الهراوات لتفريق المتظاهرين السلميين مما أدى إلى مقتل أحد المتظاهرين في عام ٢٠٠٣.

بعد أحدث عام ٢٠٠٣ في ميامي، أحد القضاة الذين باشروا القضايا التي رفعها المتظاهرين ضد الشرطة قال "هنالك لا يقل عن ٢٠ جنحه قامت بها الشرطة ... تصرف الشرطة هو عار على المجتمع بأكمله."

بين عام ٢٠٠٧ و ٢٠٠٩ ثبت تورطه في قضايا استغلال غير مشروع للسلطه مما أدى إلى استقالته من شرطة ميامي.

من المفترض أن يتم استغلال المال العام لاستقطاب الخبرات التي تثري البلد. لكن الحكومة قررت أن تدفع أموالا لاستقطاب خبرة شخص لديه تاريخ مخجل من انتهاك حقوق الإنسان، مكروه في بلده، أجبر علي الاستقالة من عمله أكثر من مره لسوء استغلاله للسلطة، و يطلق عليه لقب "أسوأ شرطي في أمريكا!"

أهذا هو الرجل و هل هذه هي الخبرة التي من المفترض أن تستقطب في هذا الوقت الحرج من تاريخ البحرين.

باسم الوحدة الوطنية و باسم الإنسانية أطالبكم بعدم توقيع العقد مع هذا المجرم.

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry announced on its own Twitter feed on Thursday that it is in the “final stages of signing a contract with John Timoney. The notorious John Timoney with the shameful history of police abuse.

He invented the violent and brutal “Miami Model” of crowd control when he was the Chief of Miami Police. His "Model" involves the heavy use of concussion grenades, pepper spray, tear gas, rubber bullets and baton charges to disperse protesters. It resulted in the death of one of the protesters during the during the Free Trade Area of the Americas summit in 2003 and many more as more police departments started using John Timoney’s “Model.”

After the events of 2003, a Florida circuit court judge said he had seen “no less than 20 felonies committed by police officers” and called the force’s actions “a disgrace for the community.”

Instead of spending the money on the general welfare, the Bahraini government is spending the money to hire an “expert” who has a history of violating human rights, despised in his country, and has been called “the Worst Cop in America!”

Bahrain is going through a critical period of its history. Adding John Timoney's "expertise" to the mix is a step in the wrong direction.

In the name of national unity and in the name of humanity I demand that you don't hire this criminal.
