Aurelia, Iowa: Let Jim Sak Keep His Service Dog

I just signed the following petition:

Service animals provide necessary aid and comfort to disabled individuals, and as such are protected by the Americans for Disabilities Act.

Jim Sak is being denied access to his beloved Pit Bull-mix service dog, Snickers, due to ignorance and undue prejudice against the breed.

In 2011, American Pit Bull Terriers score 86.4% on testing performed by the American Temperament Test Society. Some of the common family pets that are welcome in Aurelia, Iowa although they did not perform as well as pit bulls include:

-Beagles (80.6%)

-Chihuahuas (71.1%)

-Collies (79.9%)

-German Shepherds (84.4%)

-Golden Retrievers (84.9%)

The unfortunate decision to separate Jim Sak and Snickers was based in fear, not fact, and I respectfully request that the members of the Aurelia City Council seek education on the Pit Bull breed and reverse their decision.
